John will be sorely missed by a large number of people. I am proud to say I was his little brother. He had a wonderful sense of humour and outlook on life. Not the intellectual but blessed with common sense. He had a natural ability to relate to young and old alike, always sharing a friendly word or well placed insult. He was someone you could trust and depend on. He used his skills to raise thousands of pounds for charity auctioning harvest produce and flowers selling with humour to the unsuspecting, never afraid to make a fool of himself. The photos I have posted date to my wedding in August of 1989. Temperatures around 30c without a cloud in the sky. You could rely on John to do something. He decided that pretending to be pushed into the pool would be a good idea. It became one of the receptions talking points. He persuaded the kitchen staff to dry his hired suit in their ovens and managed to return it next day without incurring any penalty. I presume he must always have travelled with pair of shorts and a shirt on the off chance he would get wet as he did a quick change and proceeded to dance with everyone from small children to aged aunts. Life is not the same without John being a part of it, but being his little brother there is something of him in me and every now and then I catch myself thinking that's something John would have said or done.
